CREATIVE STATEMENT
As someone who is both writer and visual artist, I find great enjoyment in translating text into visual poetry, playing with language to take the ‘line’ on a journey from written to illustrated. To illustrate is to interpret and explain, but editorial work tends to reverse and reorient the process in many interesting ways, condensing statements into the memory of a meaning, inspiring imagination to make image. In addition, it’s a wonderful way to participate in the dialogue established, which is super great because I love to talk.

Which publication does a great job at using illustrations?
Some of my personal favourites are The Alipore Post, Brut Magazine, and The New Yorker.
What topic do you most enjoy illustrating about?
Body and feminine identity, mythology, and everyday lifestyle.
What magazine cover do you want your illustration to be on?
I can just hear everyone, in chorus, going The New Yorker. It’s true, though.
