CREATIVE STATEMENT
Hello, I’m Marcella (pronounced Marchella) and I am a professional illustrator who specialises in colourful, hand-drawn botanical and animal artwork. With over 12 years’ experience, my illustrations have been used worldwide by a variety of clients. I create my illustrations using saturated watercolour and intense ink, tiny details rendered in pencil and fine liner pens. I love to create; drawing is a form of meditation for me and my aspiration is that my adoration of nature and zest for colour shines through the illustrations I create. I want to bring joy to the viewer with Mother Nature providing endless inspiration.

Q&A
What animal do you most relate to?
I love cheetahs, their grace, their beautiful markings and their need for speed! It saddens me that they are classified as an Endangered Species – I think that’s why I constantly want to draw and showcase them. Remind people of how lucky we are to share the planet with such animals and how we need to do everything in our power to protect them.
What animal is the most fun to draw?
Anything with pattern! Which is why I love big cats or zebras – but my current obsession are octopi. Anything that has three hearts, nine brains and can regenerate tentacles deserves to be celebrated!
Which do you prefer: cats or dogs?
I may love to draw big cats, but my heart firmly belongs to a super hyper and incredibly cheeky cockapoo pup called Munchie.
