CREATIVE STATEMENT
My surface pattern design career journey began in 2018 when I created my first collection of illustrated patterns. After taking some time to build my skills in pattern design, I created my first Christmas / Winter themed gift wrap collection for my brand, Cheery Human Studios. The gift wrap collection featured holiday treats, huskies, and cats. What I love most about pattern design is its ability to enhance everyday objects like kitchenware, bags, homeware, books, gifts, and more. As an illustrator who specializes in patterns, I nurture this focus by continuously improving my skill set through classes, tutorials, and regular practice. I love learning new digital and traditional pattern design techniques and incorporating them into my client work and personal projects. My most recent patterns are inspired by my favorite subjects - florals, food, and cats.

What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I most enjoy creating patterns for novelty products, gift wrap, and packaging.
Where do you find inspiration?
My work is inspired by florals + plants, food, and animals (specifically cats and dogs).
What would be your dream pattern job?
I’d love to create patterns for product packaging, gift wrap, gift bags, notebook and planner covers, and stationery. There are so many companies that I would love to collaborate with including Seattle Chocolate Company, Target, Galison / Mudpuppy, World Market, Wrappily, Mixbook, Denik, Chronicle Books, and so many more.
