CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in painting pets began about 11 years ago when I was painting made-up dogs and making cards from them. People began asking me to paint their furry kids. As an artist who specializes in pet paintings, I realize the emotional attachment to their pet. I ask my clients several questions about their dog or cat so that I can personally get to know them. What their quirks are, or what is the sweetness about them. I ask about their background, and their special memories if they are gone. What I love most about painting pets is that I feel a connection with them by looking into their eyes as I paint them. I feel I get to know their personality, and add that to the painting with the background, the colors I use, or putting them in something that portrays their personality.
