CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in character design, in particular, and illustration, generally, began when I was a young boy watching all things animation, mainly Walt Disney films and Cartoon Network series. Over the years, my expertise in has developed due to experimentation of styles and finding my own voice in the industry. I nurture this focus by constantly researching and trying different techniques in how to portray emotions, positions and key messages. What I love most about character design is its ability to show so many stories and emotions in a few actions, positions and small details in the character or characters. To create a successful character I believe it’s important to pay attention the small details and research everything about the character and the world they live in. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful character design are form and experimentation.
