CREATIVE STATEMENT
To create a successful greeting card illustration, I believe it’s important to think about your intended customer and what’s going to draw them in. A greeting card will often be displayed up against tens or hundreds of other cards, so it’s key for me to create an eye-catching design that’s personable and appealing to the customer. I achieve this in my illustrations through striking colour choices, a strong composition, fun motifs or a catchy phrase depicted through beautiful hand lettering.

Q&A
What is your favorite occasion to illustrate?
Probably a more pensive occasion like 'thinking of you' - it has a lot of scope for creativity. Birthday cards are fun to illustrate too.
Which card do you still keep on your desk?
I have a birthday card with lots of cats on it - it's very cute!
What is the most unique card you ever created?
I created a birthday card that's based on a patchwork quilt. The lettering 'Happy Birthday' is integrated into the quilt - I thought it was a clever and cheerful touch.
