CREATIVE STATEMENT
I first fell in love with lettering when I owned a greeting card business many years ago. I would often hire calligraphers and lettering artists to stylize envelopes for product photo shoots and I was always amazed by their talent. In 2018 I decided to give lettering a try for the first time and with many hours of practice, I was able to accept my first paid commission one year later. Over the years, I have developed my expertise in lettering through consistent daily practice, continuing education through workshops and mentorship programs as well as a keen observation of lettering styles and compositions found in daily life. What I love most about lettering is its ability to transform the simplest words into beautiful works of art. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful lettering piece are composition and legibility because lettering art needs to be as functional as it is beautiful.

Q&A
What is your favorite letter in the alphabet?
Although it’s notoriously tricky to draw, I love the letter S because it’s so satisfying when you get it just right. I also love the uppercase R because there are so many fun things you can do with the descending stroke.
What writing tool do you use?
I primarily draw digitally with the Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro but a beautiful Blackwing pencil is a close second.
