CREATIVE STATEMENT
Drawing is how I communicate and share, and drawing food is important to me because it is closely tied to culture. Growing up around the globe, my family always immersed ourselves in the local gastronomy. I continue to explore cuisine by visiting restaurants, markets, and maker shops. The artist in me always admires the color and compositions of plated dishes. I especially enjoy understanding the source of food from gardens and farms. I draw to capture the essence of a product and the culture that enjoys it, from a beautifully cultivated heirloom tomato to a favorite local joint with a line of patrons streaming around the block!

What fruit or vegetable do you most love to illustrate?
Things with leaves (kale, cabbage, carrots with tops) and sliced fruits and veggies with fun insides (papaya, lotus root, citrus).
What is your comfort food?
Jatjuk (Korean pine nut porridge), Kluski z Serem (Polish egg noodles with cottage cheese), Fruit Pie (cherry and pumpkin are faves!)
What is your favorite beverage?
Mineral water or hojicha.
