CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in sci-fi and fantasy began at a young age. Instead of cartoons, I spent Saturday mornings drawing monsters in crayon and watching movies like Godzilla or Attack of the Mushroom People. Today, I’m still drawing while watching monsters, sci-fi, or fantasy—only now, instead of crayons, I use an iPad. What I love most about these genres are the limitless possibilities. To me, a successful illustration starts with reality so I am continually studying our planet’s natural wonders. To maintain my skillset I explore new mediums and take courses that push me to grow as an artist.

What super power do you wish for?
My super power would be the ability to pause time. Oh, the uninterrupted hours I’d spend drawing and cleaning.
What is your favorite show or film?
My favorite shows and films focus on the supernatural, monsters, and fantasy. But I can’t pick just one.
Which do you prefer: outer space, deep sea, or fantasy lands?
Deep sea and fantasy are my favorites, but deep sea is particularly compelling because to imagine myself in that environment is a reminder of just how vulnerable we humans are.
