CREATIVE STATEMENT
Hello, I’m Amy. I’m a children’s illustrator, author and animation artist. My interest in drawing and stories began in childhood as I fell in love with reading. Over the years, my expertise in visual storytelling has further developed due to my career in kid’s animated tv and games. Apart from my day jobs in animation, I have written and illustrated chapter book series and have also illustrated covers for middle grade novels. To me a successful children’s illustration is playful, colorful and has a tactile sense of texture.

What was your favorite storybook as a child?
I loved the Amelia Bedelia books, the humor in those is still funny to me now. I also loved Imogene’s Antlers and Where the Wild Things Are.
Which authors do you admire most?
Maurice Sendak, L. Frank Baum, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
Whimsy, playfulness and a sense of adventure!
