CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in illustrating children’s books began when I was studying at university. I loved planning the pacing and storytelling throughout the pages, and being able to bring a world to life. I love writing my own stories too, and deciding what adventures my characters will go on.

What was your favorite storybook as a child?
My favourite book as a child was The Story of Christmas by Jane Ray. I loved the vibrant colours, textures and use of gold. It felt magical.
Which authors do you admire most?
I really admire Raymond Briggs for his ability to create childlike joy and also incredibly bleak moments within his work.
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
I love illustrations that perfectly observe the funny little mannerisms that are unique to children.
