CREATIVE STATEMENT
My love of creating comes from my life and my love of the Pacific Northwest. So many of my experiences of hiking the mossy trees and sailing on the blue seas have made their way into my hand lettering and watercolor paintings. Over the years, I’ve developed the confidence to go beyond my watercolor paintings and hone my craft as a hand letterer. What I love most about creating lettering is adding messages of joy, bravery and appreciation for life’s tender moments through beautiful words. I honed my artistic voice at Seattle’s School of Visual Concepts and earned a certificate in Art for the Children’s Market from the University of Washington. Whether camping with friends, beachcombing, or boating along the Salish Sea, my heart remains rooted in nature and creativity.

Q&A
What is your favorite letter in the alphabet?
Wow, this is a tough question. I do love to draw the letter B, but only the lowercase. You can make if flowy, tall, full, or skinny. The uppercase B can be tricky. It could also be because my last name begins with B.
What is your favorite quote?
I have so many favorite quotes but one I’ve been going back to lately is: “There is still time for you to be who you want to be - don’t give up” By Alex Aubrey.
What writing tool do you use?
I love to write with ball point pens. They are fun for sketching too. You can get such good shading. I love paper and had to work very hard to learn to use tools such Procreate. I still reach for my pens and pencils first, but do appreciate how far Procreate helped my learn and hone my hand lettering.
