CREATIVE STATEMENT
I was always doodling something as a kid, and over the years, my illustration skills have gotten stronger, but my quirky, colorful curiosity remains. I’m an editorial illustrator who specializes in gardening, the environment, food, and community. I nurture this focus by staying deeply involved in those topics: I’m a Hennepin County Master Gardener Volunteer, Tree Care Advisor, and Food Preservation Consultant. My illustrations are often botanically correct but also include a little bit of magic or whimsy. I believe the most successful editorial illustrations give color to the writer's words and create an “aha!” moment for the reader.

There are so many! But I love how NPR, AARP, and The Washington Post use their illustrators.
What topic do you most enjoy illustrating about?
I love illustrating all things related to gardens, animals, food, beverages, the environment, and the human experience—relationships, social change, health, etc…
