CREATIVE STATEMENT

I began illustrating for children while working at ABC Kids, Australia’s national children’s TV channel, where I designed games, websites, and apps for young audiences. It was an honour and a thrill to create products enjoyed by millions of kids. Later, as art director at a children’s digital agency, I worked for clients ranging from small start-ups to the world’s biggest kids’ brands. Through this experience, I’ve specialized in children’s illustration and design, combining playful creativity with a strong understanding of young audiences. Whether it’s a book, puzzle, game, toy or digital experience, I’m passionate about creating work that connects with kids and celebrates their unique perspective.

Q&A

What was your favorite storybook as a child?
I loved the Richard Scarry style of books, which had a million little details to pore over on each page. I could look at them all day long.

Which authors do you admire most?
Mac Barnett—I love the humour and darkness he brings to children's stories. Mo Willems—the pigeon books are a favourite in our house. In the grown-up books department, I'm a big fan of Etgar Keret and Jonathan Safran Foer. There's definitely a dark humour theme running through my picks.

What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
Children's books are so varied, and they can shine for many different reasons! I believe a great book starts with strong story or premise, paired with engaging illustrations that complement and build upon the storyline.
