CREATIVE STATEMENT
While pursing my Illustration degree in art school, I realized early on that children’s art was going to be my specialty. Through the years working as both an illustrator and graphic designer, I’ve been lucky enough to work on some amazing projects for kids and really specialize in this industry. From designing soda cans to winning awards for some of my editorial illustrations, it’s been an amazing ride. Children’s illustration is like a puzzle – crafting characters, building their world, and arranging it all in a way that captivates young minds. Whether for books, magazines, or product design, the world of children’s art is endlessly fulfilling.

Q&A
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
Hansel and Gretel Goldenbook—it had me at edible house. Oddly enough it came in box of Borox laundry detergent?
Which authors do you admire most?
It is so hard to narrow it down, but two that stand out are Shel Silverstein and Crockett Johnson.
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
Aside from compelling characters, color and composition are so important. This is what draws you into the page, directs your eye, creates a mood.
