CREATIVE STATEMENT

I am an illustrator based in the wildlife rich tidal marshes of South Carolina. Always driving me is my lifelong love of the natural world and animals. My illustrations for the National Park Service (NPS) showcase some of my best work. These commissions were particularly thrilling as they allowed me to explore different awe-inspiring landscapes and animals. Also, I have illustrated books, magazines, games, T-shirts, posters, cards, as well as personal commissions. I work mostly in Photoshop with a hand-painted look.

    Q&A

What animal do you most relate to?
All animals are appealing in their particular ways. I love watching birds of all sorts, from song birds to bald eagles.

What animal is the most fun to draw?
Birds and dogs are fun subjects. The intricacies of feathers and capturing the light falling on them is fascinating. Dogs have a wonderful vocabulary of expression, through their faces and body language.

Which do you prefer: cats or dogs?
I'm most familiar with dogs, but having just inherited four cats, I'm not saying.
