CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in children’s book illustration began early — I loved drawing scenes from my favorite stories and creating my own. It took on new meaning when I became a parent. Now, as a non-fiction children’s book illustrator, I’m inspired every day by my daughter’s endless creativity and curiosity. I’m passionate about creating art that helps children explore and understand the world. What I love most about non-fiction illustration is its ability to make complex ideas feel simple and inviting, and I continue to grow through regular practice and exploring new ideas.

Q&A
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
Probably Mary Poppins, Moomins, and The Hobbit. I loved the sense of curiosity and adventure in those stories, especially with the maps inside the covers that made me feel like I could explore new worlds! I also found Grigoriy Oster’s books absolutely hilarious.
Which authors do you admire most?
So many! I admire a lot of Swedish children’s authors like Sven Nordqvist. I also somehow only discovered Roald Dahl’s books as an adult, but I think he’s absolutely brilliant!
What characteristics really bring a children’s book to life?
Understanding a child’s perspective, adding humor and silliness, creating relatable characters and situations, and bringing it all to life with engaging illustrations of course!
