CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in food illustration began back when I was a student at RISD. I used the food I had on hand as illustration models. I realized I enjoyed drawing food much more than figure models. Food does not move and I had the added benefit of getting to eat it when I was done with the drawing. My food drawing expertise has grown over the course of my career as a freelance illustrator and package designer. What I love about drawing food is looking for ways to stylize the colors, shapes and textures to be the most graphically interesting.

What fruit or vegetable do you most love to illustrate?
My favorite food to draw is onions. I love the rings and the layered skin—especially red onions!

A lemon poppyseed muffin.
