CREATIVE STATEMENT

One of my earliest jobs was working in a very quirky textile studio spending eight hours a day painting new colorways over existing patterns. We used acetate overlays and gouache paint to meticulously create a new palette for the current fabric line. As odd and tedious as this job was it certainly opened my eyes to the world of surface design. I learned all about the different types of pattern repeats and the importance of creating coordinating mini patterns. During my years at American Greetings I was taught how to create themed collections based on top selling holiday motifs. Many of my current patterns are a reflection of my daily hikes. I began creating abstract patterns based on different trails throughout the seasons. These patterns are very meditative to create.

Gift wrap and packaging.

Where do you find inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from daily hikes and farmers markets.

What would be your dream pattern job?
I would love to create an abstract pattern with a bit of recognizable iconography for a mural in a vegan cafe or for the signature wall in a Warby Parker store.
