CREATIVE STATEMENT
All it took was one ink drawing of fresh figs to make me discover how much I loved illustrating food. There is a wonderful freedom to how much you can stylize a food illustration and still have it be recognizable. Over the years I’ve had a complicated relationship with food. I was a very picky eater as a child. I became vegetarian in college. I struggled to eat proper, well-balanced meals. Ironically, the more food illustrations I began creating, the more nutritious meals I began cooking. I am now a very healthy vegan, eating and drawing lots of colorful fresh foods and wholesome ingredients every day! I’ve illustrated several cookbooks and love sharing plant-based deliciousness in every way I can. My favorite food to draw is still a fig although lemons are a close second.
