CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in portrait illustration began as soon as I started drawing more seriously in my teenage years. I would draw my family and friends, mostly in charcoal and graphite. When I started my professional illustration journey in 2022, I quickly discovered that drawing faces was a wonderful mix of challenge and reward – achieving the resemblance without losing the sketchy and colourful quality of my art. What inspires me most as a pop culture nerd are movies and series and the colourful, extraordinary characters they have to offer.

Q&A
Which of your portraits is a personal favorite?
I think the “David Bowie“ portrait is still one of my favourites. It shows how creative experimentation can lead to a completely new specialisation.
What is the most important feature to capture?
Eyes are important for sure. But for me and my illustrations, the nose is the most central feature.
What would your dream project be?
I would love to illustrate a book about historical female painters and draw their faces! As a studied art historian, I must say that there have been so many forgotten, excellent female artists, who need to be rediscovered.
