CREATIVE STATEMENT
As an illustrator who specializes in food and drink illustration, I nurture this focus by researching food trends and cuisines around the world. Practicing drawing unusual or complex dishes to make them look realistic enough to be recognizable while creating eye catching illustrations are two most important qualities of a successful composition. I use bright but flat colors, tactile textures and unusual pattern to create unique food illustrations for print and web.

What fruit or vegetable do you most love to illustrate?
My favorite fruit to illustrate is a strawberry and my favorite veggie to illustrate is a broccoli. As a food illustrator, I need to make this distinction!
What is your comfort food?
My comfort food are Pelmeni. These are Russian dumplings with savory fillings as vegan minced meat, potatoes and mushrooms, served with sour cream.
What is your favorite beverage?
Black tea—just what I wrote in my high school year book 15 years ago when I was asked the same question. Still an avid tea drinker!
