CREATIVE STATEMENT
My favorite type of map to illustrate is a college campus. Each campus has its own personality, which is defined by its geographic location, academic history, unique architecture, and student body. I personally find the architecture most interesting because there usually is a wide range of architectural styles, from historic halls to ultra-modern edifices. Also, colleges and universities have strong brands—colors, teams, mascots—that infuse the map illustration with specific character. As a final touch, I enjoy adding creative energy to campus maps by illustrating lots of students—playing sports, studying on the lawns, skateboarding across quads, hanging out, and having fun!

What is your most memorable vacation spot?
Machu Picchu on my 30th birthday.
What is your favorite mode of transportation?
A bicycle—not a fancy racing bike, but a super-solid commuter bike or an ultra-comfy beach cruiser.
Which do you prefer: mountains, desert, beach, or forest?
Actually, my favorite landscape is a mountain meadow. Bonus points for an Alpine meadow!
