CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in illustration began when, as a potter, I really got into drawing on my pots. Over the years, my interest in decorating my ceramic pieces bloomed into drawing on other surfaces and in other media. As an illustrator who specializes in animals and wildlife, I nurture this focus by stopping to pet every dog I see. What I love most about animal and wildlife illustration is capturing the creatures' unique personalities. To create a successful illustration, I believe it's important to add a dash of the unexpected. To maintain my animal and wildlife skill set, I draw a lot–and read many books about animals and birds.
