CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in editorial illustration began after my graduation from Konstfack, the University College of Art, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 1990. Over the years, my expertise in editorial has developed due to curiosity of trying new techniques such as collage, watercolor and further digitally. I nurture this focus by studying people, doing research in the subject I’m about to illustrate and create a dynamic composition. I love illustration’s ability to give text another dimension. I believe its important to take a creative brief further and let one’s mind wander. Every new commission is a new start. I see it as a challenge to create something new, not just following familiar tracks. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful editorial illustration are humor and heart. To maintain my skillset I draw everyday, go to exhibitions, and follow other artists work.
