CREATIVE STATEMENT
Drawing has been an inherent part of my DNA for as long as I can remember. My parents used to joke that I could draw before I could walk. I proudly come from a Scots Italian heritage (my name is pronounced ‘Marchella’) and firmly believe this has contributed to my love of colour and obsession with illustrating exotic worlds of animals and botanicals. I graduated in 2008 with a degree in Textile Design and for over 12 years have ran my own business. My clients come from all over the world, which I am incredibly grateful for and I have worked with large scale global clients, small businesses, individual private commissions, the odd celebrity, and everything in between!

Q&A
Which flower do you draw the most?
I love drawing peonies because they symbolise love, honour and happiness. Dahlias because they represent beauty, eternal love, inner strength, dignity and kindness. Finally Roses with their petals that symbolise nurturing and compassion and stems and thorns representing strength and protection.
What grows in your garden?
It’s a bit soggy here in the West Coast of Scotland! But I have been lucky with peonies and camellias, I love their vibrance, waxy lush leaves and flamboyant frill.
What do flowers symbolize to you?
Anything that is bright and fun, and if they’re covered in pattern – even better!
