CREATIVE STATEMENT
As an illustrator who specializes in drawing all sorts of animals and wildlife, I continue to nurture my skills by feeding my interest in biology: pouring over reference books, taking hikes, visiting natural history museums and watching plenty of nature documentaries. What I love most about many creature illustrations is their ability to tap into some of the wilder qualities of what makes us human. For me, the success of any animal illustration is highly dependent on how the illustrator utilizes their unique narrative qualities and attention to detail to create a sense of life within their work.

Q&A
What animal do you most relate to?
Cats. I can never resist the opportunity to curl up on a warm couch.
What animal is the most fun to draw?
Birds. They come in so many delightful shapes, sizes and colors. I love how expressive and gestural they can be both hopping around in the ground or aloft on the breeze.
Which do you prefer? Cats or dogs?
Cats. While I enjoy both cats and dogs, I have two rescue cats at home who deeply influence my views on this matter.
