CREATIVE STATEMENT
What I love most about illustrating for the winter holidays is conjuring up the magical scenery of the season. Nestled in the woods of Santa Cruz mountains sometimes I feel my little cabin home is like living in a fairy tale. By incorporating pastoral scenes, botanicals and charming woodland creatures I draw from the influences around me. I’ll often walk and snap a berry twig or fir branch for inspiration. My work evokes an idyllic, idealized and calming simplicity, rather than the usual hustle and bustle of the holidays.

What is your favorite holiday dish?
Hot spiced cider.
Which book do you recommend for holiday reading?
My favorite holiday book is Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory, an autobiographical story about a young boy and his great aunt’s odyssey to gather the ingredients for Christmas fruit cakes. It’s a heart breaking story about love and companionship.
What is your go-to gift for the host of a holiday party?
My go-to holiday host gift is homemade herbal bath salts with bay laurel and lavender.
