CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in surface pattern design began in 2018 when I completed a “100 Day Project” exercise, creating a new repeat pattern every day for one hundred days. Since then I have been refining my expertise with classes, workshops and experience! As an illustrator who specializes in bolt fabric, gift packaging, and stationery, I nurture this focus by internalizing trends and incorporating them into my work using my vibrant palette and punchy, hand-drawn style.
Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
Stationery for sure! I keep a paper daily planner and am a sucker for beautiful journals and notecards.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in the natural world, particularly in weird animals, so hiking trips and nature documentaries are priorities when I have free time.
What would be your dream pattern job?
Sustainably made apparel. The most sustainable fashion is what you wear and care for over years—a piece featuring a memorable, timeless surface pattern can inspire the wearer to hold on to it for the long haul.
