CREATIVE STATEMENT

My interest in illustrating holidays started at a very young age. I have been hand-making family greeting cards with my mom since I can remember. Each year, we would find a new, fun way to design them. Over time, my illustration skills have grown through daily practice. As a holiday and lettering illustrator, I focus on positive themes and cozy motifs in my work.
What I enjoy most about drawing is its ability to tell a story through images. I believe that for a holiday illustration to be successful, it should highlight the bright side of things and carry a positive message. For me, the two key qualities of a great holiday illustration are a playful approach and a kind message. To keep my skills sharp, I practice illustrating every day!

Q&A

What is your favorite holiday dish?
My mom makes a special Spanish dish called "Canelones," usually prepared on December 26th (the second day of Christmas) to use leftover roast meat from Christmas dinner. Although the dish has Italian roots, the Spanish version is typically made with chicken.

Which film do recommend for holiday viewing?
I recently watched Oh.What.Fun and I thought it was great to have a mom as a protagonist in a holiday movie, since they are often overshadowed by male characters. Moms deserve recognition for making the holidays better for all of us!

What is your go-to gift for the host of a holiday party?
I make a killer sangria, so I am always down to bring some with me!
