CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in editorial illustration began when I started reading a newspaper and magazines regularly, and I’d look for the pictures that accompanied the articles. Over the years my expertise in editorial illustration has developed due to honing in on this area. As an illustrator who specializes in editorial illustration I nurture this focus by being curious about and staying current with what’s going on in the world. What I love most about editorial illustration is its ability to distill the meaning of a piece of writing, helping readers understand the text. To create a successful editorial illustration I believe it’s important to effectively complement and enhance the written content. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful editorial illustration are clarity and creativity. To maintain my skillset I regularly take classes and practice drawing.
