CREATIVE STATEMENT
For as long as I’ve been drawing, I’ve found myself gravitating to drawing animals. I love the variety of textures that animals and their fur, scales, feathers, (whatever!) might have and enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to represent these textures stylistically. To get inspired, I observe animals and the way they behave (through real life or in nature documentaries), and draw them in little scenes in my sketchbook that tackle the little absurdities of life. I feel that a good illustration is one that connects people - even if you don’t directly identify with the subject matter.

Q&A
What animal do you most relate to?
A meercat - I’ve been fascinated by them since I was a kid! But we’re both typically more quieter than others, with a strong connection/sense of loyalty to our family and close friends.
What animal is the most fun to draw?
I tend to draw a lot of dogs, but monkeys are a lot of fun too... there’s just so much variation between the different types.
Which do you prefer: Cats or Dogs?
Dogs.
