CREATIVE STATEMENT
What I love most about specializing in floral and plant illustration is the versatility of the subject matter. From dainty and delicate to prickly and poisonous, plant life has it all! I enjoy the process of simplifying complex flowers into stylized versions or drawing inspiration from many different flowers to create something totally new. To maintain this skillset I spend a lot of time sketching and experimenting. I’m also constantly on the lookout for fascinating stories about plants and depictions of plant life in art from around the world.

Q&A
Which flower do you draw the most?
Lately, I’ve been drawing lots of Lily of the Valley. I love how stylized and wonky I can make an illustration of Lily of the Valley while still keeping them recognizable.
What grows in your garden?
Lettuce! Lots and lots of lettuce. It’s so easy to grow and great to have on hand.
What do flowers symbolize to you?
How remarkable our tiny blue planet is! Flowers are a brilliant reminder of how special Earth and our environment is.
