CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in portraiture started back in middle school. I always loved drawing people more than anything else and that is true to this day. In my work I love mixing graphic symbols and elements with painterly brush strokes. While my skill set is in digital illustration, I use traditional brushes and techniques to blend both worlds together. Over the past few years I have focused my illustration work around women's experiences and remarkable women throughout history.

Which of your portraits is a personal favorite?
Emily Dickinson is one of my favorites due to the color pallette, glowing moon and flowers. She was very interested in botany and I had a great time capturing her essence.
What is the most important feature to capture?
For my work picking what colors feel like the person is very important to my process. Color can really amplify a person's spirit and motivations.
What would your dream project be?
My dream project would be creating a series of portraits for a postcard set or other gift product. I am a big fan of art museums and I would love to work on products for gift shops!
