CREATIVE STATEMENT
I’m a freelance illustrator with a focus on map design—a practice rooted in my fascination with people and places. I’ve always been drawn to the stories that shape our surroundings, particularly through my personal interest in local history and learning about the characters and events of past and present that give each place its own identity. This interest has become central to how I work as an illustrator, informing both what I choose to depict and how I approach it. Over time, I realised that maps provide the perfect platform for this focus. They offer a space to explore narrative while also allowing me to work with composition, hand-lettering, typography and visual structure. After many years of map making I strive to bring these elements together in a way that’s both expressive and functional. Whether I’m working on a personal piece or a commission, I aim to create maps that are engaging, informative and full of character—illustrations that help people connect with a place, not just locate it. This is an ongoing process that makes every project unique and helps me sharpen my skills to create useful and meaningful outcomes for my clients.
