CREATIVE STATEMENT
I had always been fascinated by the magical world of children’s books. On the occasion of my son's birth, I flipped through hundreds of children's books and the wonderful images I encountered rekindled my desire to take up the art of illustration and bring children's texts to life. I love the collage technique. I experiment with textures and patterns by hand which then transform into digital or analog collages. I have illustrated and designed many picture books for children, some of my illustrations have been used for board games and advertising campaigns. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful children’s book illustration is to grab the attention of the early readers and make them feel like they are part of the story. To maintain my skillset I try to work on a daily basis and do a lot of personal projects. I also study the work of other artists and keep up with the new trends in illustration.
I graduated Graphic Design Department of Vakalo School of Art and Design. I have worked as a graphic designer and art director in advertising agencies, magazines and creative agencies as well as a freelancer. I am co-founder and head of the creative department of The Page Turners.

Q&A
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
My first and favourite picture book was “The Little Black Fish by Samad Behrangi and Farshid Mesghali. It is the only picture book that as a child I remember leafing through again and again, impressed by the simple but very, very powerful images of the Iranian illustrator Farshid Mesghali.
Which authors do you admire most?
I admire Eric Carle, Julia Donaldson, Jon Klassen and so many more…
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
I think character design and color palette is essential for children’s books illustrations. Also, a sense of adventure and small details that enhance observation.
