CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in art and illustration began when I was a tiny tot. Over the years, my expertise in illustration grew as I received my B.A. in Fine Art and subsequently created art and animation for the entertainment industry and other entities. As an illustrator who specializes in lifestyle art, I nurture this focus by using my camera to find people, colors, and animals for reference in creating pieces with diversity and humor in mind. To create a successful lifestyle illustration I believe it’s important to focus first on what the objective is, and then on color, form, and personality. To maintain my skillset I join creative groups, travel to new destinations, and draw my brains out…something that comes naturally to me. If I didn’t draw daily I think I’d probably explode!

Do you draw from a model or your imagination?
I draw from both reference and imagination. I usually start with a quick gestural sketch and then sculpt the forms based on objective and palette.
What is your favorite activity to illustrate?
My favorite creations are humans and animals doing funny or unexpected things. I also love adding lettering.
Where do you find inspiration for new people and poses?
I find inspiration from everyday life. My brain is tuned into interesting forms, color combinations, and the ridiculous nature of life in general.
