CREATIVE STATEMENT

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to symmetry and repeat patterns. This love only grew with time and I find it is now my most favorite way to create artwork. I love creating seamless repeat patterns with the intention of putting them on fabric or wallpaper or stationery, the possibilities are truly endless. My work is intricately detailed, whimsical, and inspired by vintage textiles and historical styles—I like to say it's dipped in magic. I love mixing the old with the new in my work, and am deeply inspired by both the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau. I like to mix the pattern styles and dynamic design of those artistic movements with modern motifs and bold colors to create something both nostalgic and also somehow fresh, if that is not a total and complete contradiction in terms! I am always trying to bring a historical twist to modern trends and find I love to challenge myself and see what I can come up with.

Q&A

What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I love creating patterns for the quilting fabric industry the most! I am obsessed with quilts and I just love creating collections that would look super cool in a quilt.

Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in nature, mostly, but I am also inspired so much by vintage artwork and text. I am endlessly inspired by folk and fairytales and hope my work has even a little bit of the magic that folktales have.

What would be your dream pattern job?
My dream pattern job is to be a resident designer for a large quilting fabric company who produces modern fabrics.
