CREATIVE STATEMENT
I have always loved to draw characters… from marker drawings of Peanuts strips, to drawing cute characters for my mom’s 5th grade bulletin boards, it has always been part of who I am as an artist. While my career began as a graphic designer in the toy industry, it was there that I started illustrating and evolved into a freelancer. I enjoy creating characters and thinking about how they would interact in any given situation, from what they wear to how they express themselves. As a midcentury children’s book collector, I love to draw on the inspiration of master artists such as Mary Blair, Leonard Weisgard, Richard Scarry and many more.

Q&A
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
Not a storybook, but my gramma used to read to me from Ideals illustrated Christmas books, all year round. I think it instilled my fascination with all things Christmas.
Which authors do you admire most?
Matt De La Pena, Mac Barnett, and Kelly DiPucchio to name a few.
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
A great story and characters and situations that a child can relate to.
