CREATIVE STATEMENT

My interest in greeting cards began during my first trips to the US as a teenager, where I was fascinated by the incredible variety of designs, styles, and personalities not only in bookshops but across supermarkets and drug stores. When I later pursued illustration as a career, I naturally gravitated toward stationery and paper goods. Creating artwork for different brands has since helped me develop my own approach to greeting card design, shaped by my love of cute characters, humor, stars, and whimsical elements. What I love most about greeting cards is their ability to capture meaningful moments, from celebrations to difficult times. A card is a little keepsake of someone's love and affection, something you can hold on to and treasure for decades.

    Q&A

What is your favorite occasion to illustrate?
Christmas is definitely my favorite occasion to illustrate! There are so many characters and elements I love about the season, especially gingerbread men, Santa Claus, snowmen, and nutcrackers. I also love playing with festive outfits and costumes, dressing up characters as Santa, elves, or reindeer. There’s just so much room for creativity and whimsy!

Which card do you still keep on your desk?
In 2016, while my sister Lari was living in Los Angeles, she sent me a birthday card by mail that I still keep on my shelf. It was an all-occasion card from Trader Joe’s, featuring a lovely illustration on the front with no printed message. Inside, she had written a heartfelt letter encouraging me to follow my dreams, express myself, and find my own path in life. I was just starting design school at the time, and becoming an illustrator still felt like a distant childhood dream.

What is the most unique card you ever created?
I think it has to be my ho-ho-ho reindeer Christmas card, featuring three leaping reindeer with the lettering incorporated into their bodies. It's very minimalist in style, yet playful and unexpected. It's one of those simple ideas that still makes me smile!
