My interest in architecture began when I started to travel a long time ago. I love to see buildings that are very different from what I’m used to seeing in my everyday life. Over the years, my expertise has developed, due to my experience in painting many watercolor house portraits and other types of buildings. I nurture this focus by photographing different types of buildings, to use as reference material to create other architectural watercolor paintings. What I love most about architecture is the way it reflects the history of the place and time it was built. For example, Why were those particular materials used? Why does the roof have that shape? What was the architect trying to communicate? For me, the two most important qualities of a successful architectural illustration are that it looks like the building, but also has its own style.

What city has your favorite architecture?
Paris has my favorite architecture.

What is your favorite building?
My favorite building is the Chrysler Building because it is a good example of how architecture expresses the time period. It is designed in the Art Deco style and communicates modern times and widespread technology.

Which do you prefer: modern or classical?
I usually prefer classical architecture.
