CREATIVE STATEMENT

My interest in painting began as a child and during college at Rhode Island School of Design. Over the years, my expertise in painting has developed due to consistency, practice, and working on many collaborations. As an illustrator who specializes in pattern, color, and beauty I nurture this focus by painting daily and experimenting with subjects and techniques. What I love most about gouache is its ability to layer and create very rich and beautiful surface. I believe It's important to see the flower you are trying to depict and then push it further to create the essence of the thing and a feeling of magic. To maintain my skillset I draw and paint daily.

Q&A

Which flower do you draw the most?
I often paint a mix of flowers within one painting, dahlias, daisies, and roses along with the wildlife, homes, and people that may be surrounding them

What grows in your garden?
I have a lot of deer that eat the flowers in my garden so I usually work with lots of greenery and texture. The hydrangeas tend to last the summer.

What do flowers symbolize to you?
Flowers symbolize beauty, peace, color and the promise of sunshine, birds, and a long walk.
