CREATIVE STATEMENT
I’ve always found patterns in nature and architecture intriguing. In art school I majored in Textile Design as I loved the idea of bringing fabrics to life through pattern. After graduating, I worked as a designer for 15 years in the fashion and home industries. This helped me develop a keen eye for trends and functional design and has been incredibly valuable since starting my freelance surface design business in 2015. I find joy in the entire creative process, from researching to putting paint on paper to creating my final repeat design. There is so much possibility!

Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I enjoy creating patterns for home decor as I really love to see my artwork used on a variety of products. It’s cool to see how different elements are used to make a whole collection.
Where do you find inspiration?
I love getting out into nature whether it’s going for a hike in the woods or to my own garden for inspiration. I enjoy the simplicity, beauty and tranquility it brings. I often get pattern ideas while I’m travelling, visiting museums, galleries, and thrift shops. Sometimes it’s just exposure to new surroundings, pace, smells, landscape, or people that will inspire the next creative spark. That’s what makes creating art so much fun!
What would be your dream pattern job?
I would love to create a large patterned mural that covers a building. Seeing my work as public art and scaled up in this way would be so gratifying.
