CREATIVE STATEMENT
I have always created art for fun. Aside from the book illustration, I create fine art with ink, watercolour, and acrylic. I get an enormous amount of joy doing this. Developing abstract, fun, colorful, detailed designs. These pieces have mostly hung in art galleries, or sold independently. However, I believe they could work really well for surface design. With my professional illustration and graphic design background, I would love to see my 'for fun' art be used in another area.

Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
Any surface design. Fabric, wallpaper, stationary, and packaging. I feel like the world is your oyster when it comes to surface design.
Where do you find inspiration?
I love tiny details. Discovering something beautiful in unexpected, 'ugly' places. Nature, biology, man made structures. The world is one beautiful, incredible piece of art, from the gigantic to the microscopic. I love seeing texture and patterns appear unexpectedly when I'm painting abstract art.
What would be your dream pattern job?
There's so much potential to use all the skills I have developed as an illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist. Being able to let those disciplines run wild to create new and unique artwork for surface design would be such a joy for me. It's such a thrill to see unconventional, or quirky wallpaper in a historic building or business. Or, see gift wrapping that I would want to frame and hang on my wall!
