CREATIVE STATEMENT
I got started in children's books because of my love of science. I had started a personal illustration project where I illustrated a new science fact each week. Children seemed to really respond to the approach of science fact paired with contemporary illustrations. Eventually when I had a lot of facts I had the opportunity to do a book and that turned into my children’s book series Odd Science.I love working on my own ideas as well as collaborating with authors.

Q&A
What was your favorite storybook as a child?
Probably one of Ed Emberley's drawing books. My favorites as an adult are Robo-Sauce or a Spoonful of Frogs.
Which authors do you admire most?
I really enjoy Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri's books. I also loved Jacob Kramer and K-Fai Steele's Noodlephant books. Ed Emberley, Mo Willems, and Eric Carlise are all pretty classic.
What characteristic really brings a children’s book to life?
I think humor can be very important. I also like an educational childrens' book that keeps learning adventurous.
