CREATIVE STATEMENT
My passion for floral and botanical illustration began early, inspired by a lifelong love of nature and plants. Over the years, my expertise in floral illustration has grown through daily sketching, studying botanical forms, and working on projects across editorial illustration, surface pattern design, stationery, and art licensing. As a professional floral illustrator, I specialize in creating vibrant, detailed artwork that captures the beauty and spirit of plants. I nurture this focus by exploring gardens, hiking natural landscapes, and continuously expanding my knowledge of botanical art traditions. What I love most about botanical illustration is its ability to evoke emotion, tell stories, and create a sense of connection with nature. To create a successful floral or plant illustration, I believe it’s important to blend strong composition, rich detail, and expressive design. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful botanical illustration are emotional resonance and visual clarity. To maintain and grow my skills, I regularly practice observational drawing, experiment with new techniques, and stay current with trends in surface pattern design and commercial art licensing.

Q&A
Which flower do you draw the most?
While I can create realistic botanical illustrations (and have for client work and personal projects alike), I most often draw stylized and abstract florals that capture the essence of plants in a more expressive, imaginative way. I draw cone flowers quite often.
What grows in your garden?
In our garden we grow peonies, potato vine, lilies, lilacs, roses, honeysuckle and more! We also have a greenhouse with cacti, succulents, and tropical rainforest plant varieties.
What do flowers symbolize to you?
Flowers carry a huge range of symbolic meanings. My favorites are growth, transformation and the seasons of change, as well as hope and renewal.
