CREATIVE STATEMENT
For the past 22 years, I’ve specialised in creating fun, quirky, hand-drawn map illustrations for clients around the world. My illustrated maps are full of character and tiny details designed to make people explore and look twice. I’ve developed expertise in map making working on projects large and small, from little editorial maps sitting alongside the stories of a location, to poster-sized maps that show people the way around the must-see areas of theme parks, festivals and events. You’ll even find my map drawings in video games. Creating a successful map illustration involves understanding where it will be used, making sure wayfinding is clear and building detail from there.

Q&A
What is your most memorable vacation spot?
A holiday-of-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand. Around every turn a new beautiful vista opened out in front of me and there were such a variety of landscapes from forests, to mountains to beaches.
What is your favorite mode of transportation?
I’m a big fan of walking, it’s something I do every day and a great source of inspiration. I’ve been known to walk the area of a map I’m creating to really get a sense of place and detail.
Which do you prefer: mountains, desert, beach, or forest?
Forests, the peacefulness of hearing a pine needle drop and the chance to spot a bird or a deer hanging out!
