CREATIVE STATEMENT

I've been obsessed with fashion illustration and the fashion industry since I can remember. I developed my skills as a fashion illustrator by drawing fashion sketches for hours every day while watching project runway on repeat. Now, as a professional fashion illustrator, I continue to nurture this passion by drawing and painting live at fashion events and doing commissions for major international brands. What I love most about doing fashion illustrations is helping others see how beautiful they are. This means including subjects traditionally not found in the fashion spotlight, and portraying everyone with the same grace and care.

Q&A

Which do you prefer: cozy or glamourous?
Wow that's too hard! I choose to feel both at the same time whenever possible. :)

What is your favorite fashion time period?
The 1920's and 1960's-70's never go out of style, and I'm fascinated by the intertwining of fashion and politics in those eras (both in the USA and abroad). Both eras produced world-changing looks that also happen to be stunningly aesthetic. I'm also very inspired by folk attire in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, not from any particular time period.

What brand do you admire most?
I don't think I can name just one. I really appreciate how much Bode has done for preservation and glamorizing using antique and vintage textiles. On the other hand, it's amazing how brands like Dior and Louis Vuitton have iterated and innovated and grown from humble beginnings to the massive brands they are now, despite so many challenges and changes over the decades. I also admire any brand who puts ethical work conditions and environmental sustainability over anything else, which is hard to find, but Patagonia comes to mind.
