CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in art began as a child. I was always drawing, painting, and creating. I pursued this passion by studying illustration at college and then gained a BA degree in Digital Art from University. To create a successful children’s book illustration I believe it’s important to create fun, playful and colourful art that captures the imagination as well as showing diverse characters so that all children can relate to them. To maintain my skill set I am part of an online art community where I draw every day. I am always experimenting with new brushes and techniques to keep things fresh and interesting!

What was your favourite story book as a child?
My favourite storybook was The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson
Which authors do you admire most?
I admire Roald Dahl for his sheer volume of work, wacky villainous characters, comic writing and wonderful imagination!
What characteristic really brings a children's book to life?
The characteristics that I think really bring a children’s book to life are cute characters, fun and playful art that captures the imagination and I do love bright and bold colours and texture!
