CREATIVE STATEMENT
I really get into the narrative aspect while working on an editorial story. This work is stimulating because of its range: I might be drawing something surreal and collaged, visualizing a character for an article, capturing abstract, ethereal forms, or illustrating a straightforward scene like a family shopping. Sometimes, the story is conveyed entirely through the atmosphere, without any objects at all. Collaborating with editors and art directors to shape the image’s direction is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to push the visual message further.

Q&A
Which publication does a great job at using illustrations?
I appreciate the art direction at PLANSPONSER, planadvisor, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and The Atlantic. Many business magazines have innovative art direction.
What topic do you most enjoy illustrating about?
Travel, which is to say; people, food, urban and rural landscapes and events, and also subjects in finance, science, and psychology because there is often room to play with abstract forms to depict intangible subject matter.
What magazine cover do you want your illustration to be on?
PLANSPONSER, planadvisor, The Economist, the LA Times food section, The Atlantic, Psychology Today, Breathe...
